How to make a clean white-background product photo

A clean product photo begins with a useful original. Good light and a distinct outline make the editing step easier—and help you keep the details that buyers need to see.

1. Start with a sharp, well-lit original

Place the product in soft light, keep the entire object in the frame, and leave space around it. Avoid harsh glare that hides the surface. Choose a background with enough contrast to make the product outline clear.

A pale object against a white wall can be harder to separate than the same object against a contrasting surface. BGVanish can replace the original background, so it does not need to be white when you take the photo.

2. Remove the scene around your product

Open the white-background tool and upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP. The browser identifies the main subject, then places the cutout over white.

Switch between Original and Result. Check handles, straps, narrow gaps, and the base of the object. Use Restore if part of the product was removed, and Erase if unwanted background remains.

3. Give the product consistent space

Turn on Center on a square canvas and choose a margin. A margin of 12% is a starting point; adjust it to suit the shape and your intended use. The margin is measured from the bounding box of the visible cutout.

Use the same setting for a series of product photos to create a more consistent layout. BGVanish uses the longest side of your processed image as the square size, up to 2,048 pixels.

4. Inspect and download

Finish brush edits before checking the final framing. Look for stray pixels, soft outlines, and missing product details. Download a JPG when you are happy with the white-background result.

Automatic segmentation can struggle with clear glass, fine jewelry, reflections, and shadows. For demanding catalog work, plan for manual retouching and check the specific marketplace image guidelines before publishing.

Give it a try.

A clean result starts with your next photo.
